"Soncek" is my first polka. Wanting to see young couples dancing to my music, I started with an instrumental motif. I composed the first and second movements and presented the material to my colleagues in rehearsal. As there was not much enthusiasm, I put the motif away for a while. I came up against the obstacle of not finding a suitable third part, so I asked Matjaz Vlasic to collaborate for the first time. He prepared the third part and advised me to remove some of the tones in my first two parts. This would make the piece suitable for singing. When we had it completely ready, we presented it together to my colleagues. This time, the reaction was "This is a nice polka!".
